Review: Dark Lover by J.R Ward

Set in Caldwell, New York, Dark Lover is the first novel in J.R Ward’s The Black Dagger Brotherhood, a phenomenal series about a race of warrior vampires who battle an ancient enemy intent on wiping them out of existence.

Wrath is the last purebred vampire left on the planet, he’s also the King of the race and leader of a secret band of brothers who have pledged their lives to defending their race.

Beth Randall is living a tedious and mundane life as a journalist, completely unaware that she’s the daughter of the Brother Darius, and a half-breed whose life is about to change completely.

A stunning and gripping novel, Dark Lover, is the perfect beginning for a perfect series. Full of chemistry and plot twists that will have you unable to put the book down, a kick-ass writing style and the ability to create such realistic and unique characters, make this a pleaser to read.

J.R Ward’s flawless handling of Point of View, which varies between Beth and Wrath during this novel – and gives each Brother their own book in the series –enables you to understand their motives and see into the minds of each one of the main characters, leaving you begging for the next novel.

The world that Ward has created in Dark Lover is so convincing that it will have you questioning if it actually exists, while the strong and lovable characters make you hope that it is.

I encourage any Adult or New Adult readers who love Urban Fantasy or Paranormal Romance to read Dark Lover and the rest of The Black Dagger Brotherhood.
